Weekly update 18/07/2024

Our Vision

We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.

New this week…

What and end to the term; we have said goodbye to our lovely year six children and I think the children are ready for a rest after a very busy year.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank parents for all your support over the year and to say well done to the children for all their hard work and for the successes they have achieved this year.
I hope you all have a fun filled (and hopefully sunshine filled) summer.

We look forward to welcoming you all back to school Tuesday 3rd September 2024. Just a reminder, there will also be the opportunity to drop in on the Monday 2nd September to see your child’s new classroom ready for the start of term. Please check the school calendar nearer the time for timings for this.

Have a lovely holiday!

Clubs
Please look out for information coming out re clubs for next term.

Ear Piercing

If parents are considering having their child's ears pierced, please could this be done at the beginning of the school holidays since earrings cannot be taped up for PE lessons and must be removed. This timing allows the ears to heal properly before the child returns to school and engages in physical activities.

Donations of polo shirts
Please could we have any donations of polo shirts for our spare clothes collection in Rockets.

Early finish
School will close at 2pm on Friday 19th July as it is the last day of term! Please can parents ensure that any wellies etc that your child has in school are taken home over the summer period.

A huge thank you...
...once again to the Rotary Club of Ripon Rowels who have provided our Year 2 children with some super dictionaries.  This is something that they do every year for all children at Ripon schools and the surrounding area.
As a group who meet regularly on an informal basis, they work to gather funds to support a number of charities.  The mission of Rotary (an international organisation) is to provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through fellowship.  If that sounds like something you would like to be part of, the members invite you to come and join them for a meal or a drink to see if it's for you.  For further details, contact them at:

Reminders

Tennis Club Summer Offer

West Tanfield Tennis Club have once again, very generously, offered the use of their courts on Friday afternoon during the summer holidays. This is a free service and we are incredibly grateful to the for their support of school.

Please see the information below.

West Tanfield Tennis Club would like to offer families at St Nicholas Primary School the opportunity to play tennis, at no charge, on Friday afternoons during the school holidays. We intend to open the courts from 2.00 to 4.00pm on Friday afternoons, from the 26th of July until the 30th of August.

The arrangement is that children can play providing they come with a parent/adult, who may also play if space allows, and who will be responsible for their children’s behaviour whilst they are at the club. The club will provide supervision, but not coaching, of the children whilst they are on the court.

Should more children/adults turn up than there is court space, then the supervisor of the session will rotate the children as appropriate and allow adults to join in if and when possible.

The school will provide rackets for the children and the club will provide tennis balls. There is no need for families to book as we do not anticipate a large turnout.

We hope that families take up this offer over the summer.

Mud kitchen donations
Mrs Cornforth is looking to revamp our mud kitchen area for our Early Years children over the summer holidays and we are asking for donations of unwanted kitchen equipment and utensils. In particular we would like donations of the following;
  • Metal spoons – all sizes including slotted spoons.
  • Metal whisks – various sizes
  • Potato masher
  • Spatula
  • Metal Ladles
  • Tongs
  • Egg cups
  • Ice cream scoop
  • Colander
  • Pestle and mortar
Metal cups/plates
