Weekly Update 23.06.23

  Weekly Update 23.06.23 UKRAINE

Our Vision
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’. To have the courage to act with kindness, patience, love and peace in all the communities they serve in.

In school next week….

Clubs
Monday – Gardening/Library Club with Mrs Court
Tuesday – General after-school club with Mrs Johnson
Wednesday – Sports Cool – booked directly with Chris as normal.
Thursday – Netball with Mrs Staveley

North Yorkshire Music Service
These sessions will continue for Asteroid Class each Friday afternoon. Please ensure your child’s instrument is in school on this day.

Forest School
We are pleased that Madeleine will be back in school from Wednesday 28th to re-start our Nursery Forest School sessions.  These will continue every Wednesday morning until the end of term.  Despite the warm weather, please ensure children have a kit that covers their arms and legs as the children will still be amongst the trees, nettles, climbing mud banks etc!  Waterproofs and wellies are also still required.

Sports Afternoon
Our sports afternoon will take place Wednesday 28th June at 1:30 pm. Please note that to safeguard our children, there will be no photographs allowed. Thank you for your help with this. Please could all children come to school in their PE kit ready.
Following the Sports afternoon, there will be a BBQ provided by friends. Please see attached poster.

Workshop with Ukrainian Digital Artist
Many thanks to all parents who have already responded to the email about the KS2 workshops with a Ukrainian artist at Ripon Cathedral on Tuesday 27th June . If you haven’t already done so, please can you acknowledge receipt as soon as possible. Any orders for a packed lunch from school need to be in by Monday morning please, so that Sharon has the numbers in good time.

School trip – Newby Hall
A letter regarding this trip will be sent home today – please look out for this.

Flower Festival
Next week the children will be preparing art work to form part of the Flower Festival at St Nicholas Church. Our contribution will be displayed in the Lady Chapel from 30th June. Do pop in to church to take a look if you are passing.

Brass Performance
It has been wonderful to hear the sounds of brass instruments coming from the hall each Friday afternoon as the KS2 children work with Annie Wilkins. Parents and carers are warmly invited to a special performance in the school hall on Friday 7th July at 3pm.

Important Reminder
A number of children have not had water bottles in school with them this week. In this hot weather, we are encouraging the children to stay hydrated. Can we also politely remind you that water bottles should contain WATER ONLY. As well as protecting the children’s teeth, this also avoids sticky spillages and invasions of ants!!

PE
Please could children have a Summer PE kit in school which includes shorts, t-shirt and trainers/plimsolls.  They should also have a sunhat, sun cream (already applied or in book bags) and a water bottle every day.  Please could any children that attend Nursery on Thursdays also have a PE kit with them.

Harrogate Music Centre
Harrogate music centre are having an open morning on Saturday 1st July at St Aidans in Harrogate. It looks a fun morning if your child (or you!) are interested in getting involved in instrumental groups. Letter attached.

Parking and Access
The week after next, parents are kindly requested to park in the village hall car park or on the main road and walk up, as there will be roadworks at the turning into Mowbray Terrace as the dropped kerbs are constructed for new house.  This is for the safety of the children.
