A message from the governing body regarding communication with school
27 Mar 2026
Correspondence with school
Every member of our federation team strives hard to provide the best education possible for your children. For that our priority is being in front of the children to facilitate this.
Staff very much welcome and value the contact with parents and are clear how vital working closely in partnership with parents is for the best interests of the children in our schools.
As governors, we too support this but our team, as with everyone, need down time, it is not 24 hours a day 7 day a week on call position and the majority of their working day is in front of the children with limited access to emails.
Governors feel that staff should not feel obliged to check/ reply to emails on an evening or weekend but human nature says different. Therefore, we would request that you please ask yourself before contacting via email if your communication is essential, to support us in encouraging a good work life balance for our staff.
Below we have categorised different scenarios to make sure that relevant time scales are kept to along with being directed to the correct place.

Recently, some staff have reported feeling intimidated by a
very small minority of parents and the attitudes that they have towards them when we all should be working together to provide the greatest start for the children in our school community.
This is a very heartfelt plea to show some understanding and appreciation for our team that daily go above and beyond for those on our roll.
We are privileged to have an incredible team at our schools and we would be really grateful if you could support us in this.
Kind regards
The Federation Of Kirkby Malzeard and St Nicholas CE Schools Governing Body
