Weekly Update 17.10.25
17 Oct 2025
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION RE ALLERGENS IN SCHOOL
We have a child in our school community who has allergens to the following foods:
· Prawns
· Sesame (hummus, often in breads, tahini pastes etc)
· Nuts (any kind)
We would be grateful if you could support us in keeping our school community safe by ensuring that these ingredients are never sent into school and that your child’s packed lunch or snack does not contain these.
Thank you for your support.

HATE CRIME AWARENESS WEEK
It was lovely to welcome PCSOs Heather and Charlotte back into school on Monday to mark Hate Crime Awareness Week. They spent time with the older children during their PSHE lesson recognising what makes each of us unique.
SUMMER READING CHALLENGE
Many thanks to Harriett from the North Yorkshire Library Service who popped into school this week to celebrate all those who took part in this summer’s reading challenge and remind the children that they are all welcome to register with their local library. We are also very fortunate to have very supportive volunteers in our community who come into school regularly to support children’s reading. Our thanks to Mrs Buckham-Bonnett and ‘Library Mrs Taylor’ (as she is known!)
WORD OF THE WEEK
To help children develop their vocabulary and a love of words, a focus ‘word of the week’ is introduced each week for the children to investigate. This week’s word is:
The children are encouraged to find out what the word means and perhaps use it in a sentence or explore its etymology. Their efforts are then displayed in the hall. Although aimed more at the KS2 children, everyone is welcome to join in.
