Weekly Update 26.09.25
26 Sep 2025
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
READING
We are almost a whole month into the new school year and have been so pleased at how well all the children have settled back into class routines. They all arrive each morning raring to go and show such enthusiasm for their learning. We have been very busy during the last few weeks carrying out assessments and sorting out reading groups. Just a heads up that our reading group sessions will resume next week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with the younger children bringing home a book to share weekly whilst the older children will bring theirs home fortnightly. As ever, many thanks for all the support the children get from home with their reading. It makes a big difference!
MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNORS:
The governors would like to extend their thanks to the staff team who have gone above and beyond again.
To the staff who cared for 87 children during their residential to Bewerley Park last week, the children had an amazing time taking part in activities from early morning until late evening. The staff worked tirelessly to ensure all children could access the activities and remained happy, safe and settled throughout, even managing to do daily updates late in the evening at the end of very long days with no breaks. We would like to recognise their dedication and efforts in working away all week and leaving their own families.
We would also like to thank the all staff at school who remained at school to kept school running smoothly with a much-reduced staff team.
NETBALL CLUB
Our Tuesday Netball Club with Mrs Court has been a great success so far. It is lovely to see the children enjoying the last of the light evenings, keeping active and having fun. There are still spaces if any KS2 children would like to join – this might be of particular interest to those children who are participating in the upcoming Netball event at Outwood.
WORD OF THE WEEK
To help children develop their vocabulary and a love of words, a focus ‘word of the week’ is introduced each week for the children to investigate. This week’s word is:
The children are encouraged to find out what the word means and perhaps use it in a sentence or explore its etymology. Their efforts are then displayed in the hall. Although aimed more at the KS2 children, everyone is welcome to join in.
