Weekly Update 18.07.25
18 Jul 2025
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
A MESSAGE FROM MRS TAYLOR
What an end to the term; we have said goodbye to our lovely year six children and I think the children are ready for a rest after a very busy year.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank parents for all your support over the year and to say well done to the children for all their hard work and for the successes they have achieved this year.
I hope you all have a fun filled (and hopefully sunshine filled) summer.
We look forward to welcoming you all back to school Tuesday 2nd September 2025.
Just a reminder, there will also be the opportunity to drop in on the Monday 1st September at 3pm to see your child’s new classroom ready for the start of term.
Have a lovely holiday!
Mrs Taylor
AND A HUGE THANK YOU…
…from all the staff to our lovely families for all your well wishes and goodies for the staffroom, which have kept us all going during this last week or two! We would also like to wish everyone a wonderful summer and we shall look forward to hearing about all the children’s adventures on their return in September.
Y2 DICTIONARIES
The Y2s were delighted to receive their Usborne Illustrated Dictionaries from the Rotary Club of Ripon Rowels. They have already used them at school and have now brought them home to help with any homework.
PARENT PACKS
Parent packs will be coming home today with important policies and copies of school contact and medical information. Please check over this information that we hold on record for you and your child. If this needs to be updated, please do so by hand and return to school in the new academic year.
Please do not confuse these with the Bewerley Park information which is also coming home today.
MSA ROLE
We have a vacancy for a Mealtime Supervisor for the coming academic year. This role would suit someone in the community who is looking for some part-time work in a school environment. For more information, please email
admin@west-tanfield.n-yorks.sch.uk or give us a call on 01677 470329. Please spread the word.
CLUBS and WRAPAROUND CARE
Just a reminder that booking forms for Breakfast Club and after-school childcare can be found on our school website under the Parents tab. Click below to access:
St Nicholas Church of England Primary School
Please can requests for general wraparound care be submitted by
Tuesday 2nd September. Once we know the numbers for this, we shall be able to open up places for the enrichment clubs, depending on capacity.
Reminders…
PARENTPAY
Many thanks to all those who have settled their ParentPay accounts in time for the end of the school year. Please can all outstanding amounts on ParentPay be cleared as soon as possible. If you have any issues relating to ParentPay, we would be grateful if you would contact us today so that these can be resolved before the end of term.
END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS
Just a reminder that school closes early today at
2pm.

News from the wider community
WEST TANFIELD TENNIS CLUB
West Tanfield Tennis Club would like to offer children at St Nicholas Primary School the opportunity to play tennis, at no charge, on Friday afternoons during the school holidays. We intend to open the courts from 2.00 to 4.00pm on Friday afternoons, from the 25th of July until the 29th of August. The arrangement is that children can play providing they come with a parent/adult who will be responsible for their children’s behaviour whilst they are at the club. This year the club will provide coaching of the children whilst they are on the court. Also, children may bring a brother, sister or relative who is under twelve but who does not attend St Nicholas School. Should more turn up than there is court space then the coach will rotate the children as appropriate.
Rackets for the children will be provided by school and the club will provide tennis balls.
