Young Voices 2025

09 Jan 2025

We are all getting very excited about the Young Voices concert in Sheffield on Wednesday 12th February.
Please find below some information which may be useful for you:

Rehearsals and songs

Rehearsals will be continuing in school, but due to the volume of songs, please ensure that your child practises these at home. Please encourage your child to put in a last push in learning the words to make sure they have the best experience possible at the concert. The songs can be accessed here:

Parent tickets and child T shirts

These will come directly to school.
Tickets will be sent to parents nearer to the date of the concert.
T shirts will be handed to children on the day prior to the concert to bring home.

Timings for the day
  • 10:30am Snack at school (provided by school)
  • 11:00am Coach collection from Kirkby Malzeard school, then to St Nicholas and on to Sheffield Arena
  • 12:50pm Arrive at the arena, find our seats and have our packed lunch.
  • 2:00pm – 5.00pm Rehearsal
  • 5.00pm – 6.30pm Break and have our packed tea
  • 6.30pm In our seats, concert ready and try to spot parents arriving
  • 7pm Concert starts
  • 8.45pm Concert ends and audience leaves
  • Staff/Children are instructed to leave in sections and return to the coach
Transport
  • The children will come to school as normal on Wednesday morning. Both schools will travel together on one coach to and from the arena.
  • The approximate time for the end of the concert is 8.45pm. We then need to wait our turn to leave the arena (after the audience has left) and make our way to the coach. This gives us an estimated time arriving back at school between 11.00pm and 11.30pm. We will communicate via email if needed.
  • If you are travelling by car to watch the performance, please remember to book car parking.  https://www.utilitaarenasheffield.co.uk/latest-news/young-voices
 Clothing
  • Children need to arrive at school wearing their school uniform. We will distribute Young Voices t-shirts the day before and children should come wearing these with a school jumper over.
  • If you have not ordered a t-shirt, children should wear a plain white t-shirt with their school jumper over. It will most likely be hot in the venue, so please only send their school jumper and a raincoat to wear for movement between the coach and arena if necessary. No large or heavy coats please as space is very limited.
Food
  • Please do not over pack food. The children are very busy, hot and excited so do not tend to eat as much as normal.
  • Children need TWO packed meals. We will have lunch at 1pm when we arrive at the venue and then we have a meal break at 5pm for tea. Please ensure everything is sent in a plastic bag (no lunch boxes) and all lunch containers and drinks bottles are disposable. Children will be expected to carry these themselves.
  • IMPORTANT: Please be aware that we have severe food allergies in school and therefore all food sent should not contain items on this list: all tree nuts, peanuts, cashews, legumes (e.g. lentils, peas, chickpeas, pinto beans, black beans and turtle beans), pea protein/flour/fibre. Thank you for your support in keeping our children safe.
Entertainment
  • Electronic items are not allowed but children may bring a small, quiet game such as cards or Uno. These must be pocket sized and fit in their raincoat pocket, otherwise they will be left at school.
Parent information for the day
  • Please see attached information from Young Voices 2025 for parents
