Weekly update 191224

19 Dec 2024

We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.

New this week…
The staff would like to thank all our families and volunteers for their support over this busy term...not to mention all the delicious goodies which have come into the staffroom to keep us going over the last few weeks!  We would like to wish you all a joyful Christmas and we look forward to hearing about all your holiday adventures in the New Year.

Sunday 22nd December 2024
We hope to see many of you this afternoon at our 'Carols round the Tree' service in St Nicholas Church at 2pm for 2.30pm.  If that leaves you in the mood for more, the village Carol Service will take place in St Nicholas Church at 6pm on Sunday.  All welcome.  This will be in place of the usual monthly family service.

Wraparound Care and Enrichment Clubs

If you require wraparound care for the term ahead (Spring Term), please complete the booking form and return to the school office before Monday 6th January.

Enrichment clubs are now available to book onto, please note these are filled on a first come first served basis, booking emails for both wraparound care and enrichment clubs were sent out earlier this week.

Theatre Visits

A massive thank you to all of you who have generously donated towards our upcoming theatre trip to ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’. Your support makes a world of difference, and we are thrilled to confirm that the trip to the theatre for Key Stage Two will be going ahead as planned!

Please note, this is the first day back at school on Tuesday 7th January.

Timings for the day as follows:

10.00am Snack at school (Please provide this)
10:25am Depart school
11.45pm Arrive in Leeds and have packed lunch at the theatre
12.30pm Performance

Packed Lunches:
Please send an easy to eat, light lunch as this will be being eaten in a small area of the theatre before the performance. Please ensure food comes in a small, easy to carry, disposable bag as there will not be room for large bags or lunch boxes.

We have members of our school community attending the trip with severe allergens:
Please ensure lunches are free from the following ingredients:
Cashew nuts
Peanuts
Lentils
Peas
Chick peas
Kidney beans
Haricot beans

Children should come in full uniform as normal on this day.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.

Spare socks
We are running low on spare socks for Rocket Class. If anyone has any pairs of socks they could donate, it would be greatly appreciated.

Parent help - Postcards
As part of Geography and helping the children understand place and locational knowledge could I ask that if any parents or relatives are visiting places of interest or travelling to other destinations on day trips or on holidays that they pick up a postcard. They can either send to school by post or send the postcard with their child on return to school. We can then, together as a class, find, locate and investigate locations around the world. I am sure they will be eager to learn about who has been where and this will enthuse and encourage them to further their skills in using world maps, atlases and globes.
