Spelling homework

This week we are looking at adverbs where the root word ends with 'ic' or 'al'

frantically
dramatically
magically
tragically
comically
actually
accidentally
occasionally
eventually

The children should recognise when to add 'ally' or just 'ly'


Y5/6

Words which end in 'ment'

equipment
environment
government
parliament
enjoyment
document
management
replacement
movement
statement

We looked carefully to see which of the words has a root word and discussed strategies for the trickier words such as 'parliament', 'government' and 'environment' which all have a silent letter.  Don't be caught out in the spelling test on Friday!
The first four words are Y5/6 statutory spellings and the children must know how to spell these ones!
