Homework - 5th February 2020
05 Feb 2020
MyMaths homework is now live for the children to complete. This week the children have been set a task focusing on rounding and estimating - work that they have been doing with Mrs Hatch.
This is to be completed by Monday 10th February.
Spelling Homework
Year 3 and 4
dislike
disobey
discolour
discover
disappear
disallow
disbelieve
dishonest
disapprove
discontinue
In our spelling session we identified that all of these words began with the perfix dis-. We then identified the root word for each word and discussed what happened to the meaning of the word once dis- was added. We decided that, just like the prefix mis-, the prefix changed the root word into a negative.
The children will be tested on these spellings on Tuesday 11th February.
Year 5 and 6
alter
altar
bridal
bridle
ascent
assent
cereal
serial
complement
compliment
We investigated definitions today and had to see if we could identify the homophone from its definition. We looked at where the word was spelt differently and looked at the meanings carefully.
The children will be tested on these on Tuesday 11th February and they will need to know the word within its context.
Words in red are statutory words that the children should be able to spell by the end of either Y3/4 or Y5/6.
