Forest School
Asteroid class continue forest school sessions each Wednesday until half term. Children should wear old, comfortable clothes and wellies or trainers for this along with waterproof trousers and coats.

A polite reminder

Please remember that children should not bring toys or teddies into school as they may got lost or damaged.  Thank you for your support with this

Keeping Safe

As part of our Geography work, Rocket Class (Reception to Y2) have been chatting to parents at home to learn their address, so that they would be able to relay it to a responsible adult if they were to get lost.  Please could all parents check that your child does know their home address, and if not spend some time practising together. This is a vital piece of information that all children should know.  Thank you for your support with this.

Other information:

Toddler Forest School
This begins again with Madeleine from 1st march 2023. Please spread the word. All information can be found on ‘Outdoor Adventures Forest School’ Facebook page.

Winter outdoor clothing
Please can children all come to school in a warm and waterproof coat- we are outside in all weathers so children must be appropriately dressed.

World Book Day
Thank you to all of the parents and carers that joined us for 'books before bedtime' yesterday.  It was lovely to welcome you all into school and the children loved the opportunity to share their books over hot chocolate and biscuits!
Thank you for all the feedback regarding our approach to phonics and reading.  If anybody has anything to add, please email Mrs Clegg with your comments.

Parents Evening

You are warmly invited to meet with your child’s class teacher on the afternoon of Wednesday 15th March to discuss his/her progress.  Parent consultation meetings help both teachers and parents to have a good understanding of how we can all best support your child’s learning so we really hope you can make it.  From Monday, you will be able to book your slot via the school website in the usual way.

Pre-loved uniform sale

The Friends of St Nicholas School are holding a pre-loved uniform stall (see flyer attached). This is a great opportunity to recycle and save some money. Any donations are very welcome and can be dropped off at school on any day before the event. The stall will be next to the tuck shop at 3:30pm on 10 March.

Safeguarding, health and Wellbeing Updates

Warning about Roblox

Due to the popularity of online gaming platform Roblox with children and young people under the age of 16, online safety experts have released this Safeguarding Update about a collection of games trending within the platform. The games depict themes of isolation, cutting, and suicide with some including chatrooms where users engage in unmoderated discussions around hopelessness, depression, self-harm, and suicide.

Several of these depression room games on Roblox have up to 5.6 million visits and are advertised as being appropriate for ‘all ages’. Despite being explicitly against the platform’s Terms of Service, Roblox have failed to remove most of these harmful games from the platform at this time.
