Asteroid Class Weekly News

Welcome Back

What an exciting start to the Autumn term we have had with our trip to Ingelborough Hall, along with the KS2 children and staff from Kirkby Malzeard!

We have all practised becoming confident communicators in lots of different ways. We have learned how to cross a 'river' using only our teamwork skills and a few planks of wood, we have worked together in teams to built shelters in the woodland and we have even had a go at archery - each one of us improving with every practice shot.

After navigating our way around the beautiful limestone landscape surrounding Clapham village, we also had great fun gorge scrambling and visiting the vast Yordas cave which was written about by William Wordsworth over 180 years ago.

Everyone enjoyed staying in our very own Manor House, playing in and orienteering around the grounds and even enjoying a movie in the giant TV room or games in the library one evening when the weather closed in.

I really enjoyed getting to know all the children in Asteroid class at the very start of term on residential and seeing how they shone like stars in their kindness and thoughtfulness towards each other and the way in which they made new friends over the three days. This week, the children were also able to practise confident communication in their first Forest School of the year too. We are all looking forward to a fun-filled Autumn term at St Nicholas' School and thank you for bearing with me while I learn to post information on the website and get set up with all the different means of communicating across school.
