Comet Class Weekly News

Miss Mandelson - 11 Sep 2021

Welcome Back
First of all a very warm welcome to the first weekly update of the new academic year for our newly established Comet Class.  It is lovely to be reunited, but this time as Y2/3/4 rather than YR/1/2...and a special welcome to Katelynn who has joined us in Year 2.  We had a super first day back on Tuesday and, as ever, it was great to hear all the children's news from their summer holidays.  Everyone worked really well together to put the finishing touches to our new classroom.

It has certainly been a week to remember as the Y3 and Y4 children joined with their friends from Asteroid Class and the Kirkby Malzeard children to head over to Ingleborough Hall.  I can not tell you how proud I have been of all the children as I have watched them embrace so many new experiences with determination, enthusiasm and care for each other.  From making their own beds, organising their belongings and overcoming home-sickness to participating in activities such as gorge scrambling, caving, archery, problem-solving, fell walking, orienteering and geo-caching, they have shown great courage, resilience and humour.  Well done to each and every one of you - it has been a pleasure to watch you blossom and grow in independence.  Here are just a few photos of our time together...

...hopefully we shall be able to share some more once we have checked permissions for our Kirkby Malzeard friends and collated the photos taken by other group leaders.  I know that the Y2 children will have had a super time with their friends in Rocket Class whilst we were away and I am looking forward to hearing about what you have been up to with our old friend the Colour Monster when I see you on Monday!

Just a quick reminder that there is an all-age service in St Nicholas Church tomorrow (Sunday) morning at 9.30am, Whether you are helping with the readings or not, everyone is very welcome. This will be a lovely opportunity to come together as we think of the school year ahead.  Reverend Sian has invited the children to bring their school bags along to be blessed.  Hope to see you there if you are free.

Lastly, apologies for being a little late to publish our first class page this week, but I know that you will forgive me for prioritising a long soak in the bath and an early night over switching on my laptop last night!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
Miss Mandelson
