Week Commencing 14.12.20
18 Dec 2020
It's Christmas!! Well done Panthers, you have made it!
We have had a very busy and exciting last week in class.
In maths, the children solved some Christmas maths mysteries and used their multiplication and division skills to crack the code and create some Christmas themed pictures.
On Tuesday afternoon we were very lucky to be able to watch Covidella and the Masked Ball. This is an online panto performed by the MTA. The children thoroughly enjoyed the panto and it certainly got them shouting at the screen! This panto is available to screen at home between 18th December and the 6th Jan so if you find yourself at a loose end over Christmas and are missing out on your traditional panto experience then this could be something to do. On Wednesday the children learnt about a Victorian Christmas and discovered that before the Victorians people often worked on Christmas Day, there were no holidays, no trees, no crackers and people had never heard of Father Christmas. We took part in a Victorian craft morning making traditional Victorian Christmas cards, orange pomanders and handmade Christmas tree decorations. These have been safely quarantined and will be coming home today.
The children enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner yesterday, thanks to Sharon, and then had fun at their Christmas party, they even played some Victorian parlour games. These may be fun to play at home over Christmas so ask them to explain how to play:
The laughing game
The sculptor (we couldn't play this one in school as it didn't adhere to social distancing but the children thought it looked fun!)
How? What? Where? When?
If the children have forgotten here is a link to a BBC webpage that explains the rules. Victorian Christmas Parlour Games.
We hope that you all have a very happy and magical Christmas and that Father Christmas brings you something special. Stay safe and rest and make some treasured memories together. We look forward to seeing you in 2021!
