Week Commencing 27th April

27 Apr 2020

Good morning Panthers and welcome to another week! I hope that you are all doing well and have had a lovely weekend playing in the sun.

It will be me keeping in touch again this week as Mrs Hatch is on holiday as she worked during the Easter holidays.

I thought I would make this week a riddles week so each day I will post a riddle for you to have a go at solving. You can email your answer to us at panthers@west-tanfield.n-yorks.sch.uk

Monday

Today's riddle:

What has a face and two hands but no arms or legs?

I will be ringing round as many of you as I can to catch up with you today.

Speak soon
Miss Asker

The answer is...

Tuesday

Hello, it was so lovely speaking to some of you yesterday. I have to admit I felt a bit nervous phoning you as it's not something I normally do so please don't worry if you feel a bit nervous too. As you can probably guess I spent far too long chatting and didn't get through you all so will be trying again this afternoon!

Well done to Amy and Enna who guessed yesterday's riddle correctly. I'll give people a little bit longer to have a go and reveal the answer later.

Today's riddle is:

What belongs to you, but other people use it more than you?

And the answer is ... Your name!

Good luck. I will be on the email this morning 9-10am.

Have a good day.

Wednesday

Bonjour.

I hope you all are having a good week so far. How are you all getting on with the National Oak Academy? Please do send us an email to let us know how you are getting on with it and what you think. Don't forget to log onto TT Rockstars to practise too. There are plenty of books on your active learn accounts if you are running out of reading materials.

It was lovely to speak to some more of you on the phone again yesterday. I have a handful of children still to ring and am hoping to speak to those I haven't spoken to today and tomorrow.

Well done to Amy, James and Enna who have sent me the correct answers to my riddles so far this week. I have put the answer to Monday's riddle up; I will leave Tuesday's until tomorrow to give you a little longer on it.

Today's riddle is...

I make two people out of one. What am I?

The answer is... A mirror.

I look forward to hearing your answers - I think this one is a little trickier!

Thursday

Good morning. I had another lovely afternoon yesterday chatting to more of Panther Class. You have all had so much to tell me and it has been really nice to hear what you have been getting up to. I have just two more children to speak to today so if you haven't heard from me yet I will be trying to get in touch with you later on.

A huge Happy Birthday to Captain Tom Moore who is 100 years old today! What an achievement. He has also just been awarded the title of honorary colonel at Harrogate's Amry Foundation College - he certainly has a lot to celebrate today.

I wonder how many of you will be out on your doorsteps at 8pm tonight to clap for the NHS - I know I will.

I have been really impressed with how many of you are guessing the riddles  correctly! Well done to Amy, Ava, Enna and James who guessed the answer to Tuesday's riddle correctly. Harrison thought it could have been your telephone number which isn't right but actually a very good guess! I have put the answer above.
I have had some correct answers for yesterday and will give you the answer tomorrow to give you a little more time.

Today's riddle is...

I am white when I am dirty, and black when I am clean. What am I?

The answer is... A Blackboard/Chalkboard.

Good luck with this one and have a super day.

Friday

I can't believe that it is Friday already, I had to really think about what day it was this morning when I woke up! Well done to all the Panthers and their Mummies and Daddies - you've done it: you've completed another week of home schooling. Make sure you have a good break over the weekend. Why not see if you can do something you haven't done for a long time - could that maybe be tidying your bedroom?!

I think I finally managed to stump you with yesterday's riddle as I didn't have any answers emailed in. I won't give you the answer just yet to give you a bit more time to think about it. Wednesday's answer is up above.

Today's riddle is...

The more you take away, the more I become. What am I?

The answer is... A hole!

Have a fantastic weekend. I will be on the email from 9-10am today and Mrs Hatch will be back with us next week.
Stay safe and make sure you keep in touch with us.

Miss Asker
