Rocket Class Weekly News 5th November

Mrs Clegg - 04 Nov 2021

"999...What's your emergency?"

What a fantastic start to the new half term we have had!  The children were amazed to see our role play area transformed into a fire station when they returned on Monday:

The idea of a fire station role play has come from us observing the children's interests last half term, but it also ties in beautifully with our PSHE work on keeping safe and of course Bonfire Night!  Thank you to some of our families who have parents working in the fire service and have kindly donated equipment (real hoses, flashlights and warning triangles!) as well as leaflets and posters.   You have really helped bring this to life for the children.

As well as fire fighting, the Reception and Nursery children have had a super week learning about 2d shapes and beginning to describe their properties.  Leyna even noticed that "a rainbow is a semi-circle!"  Well done!  The Year One children have carried on their Maths work on ordering numbers and using the inequality symbols- super effort all round!

In English we have continued reading 'Tidy' by Emily Gravett.  The children were horrified when Pete the badger dug up all of the trees because he thought they were making the forest look untidy!  A special mention to Jessie who gave some insightful, mature ideas as to why trees are needed for the planet to survive.  Her ideas blew me away and I had to put her on our Recognition Board for displaying our Christian value of 'love.'

On Thursday afternoon 'Sport's Cool' returned to school to showcase some multi-sports.  The children had a brilliant time and many of them were keen to sign up to the after school club.  Hopefully you have received the leaflet explaining how to do this.

Finally, it was lovely to speak to you all on Zoom when we finally managed to hold our parent consultations!  The technology behaved itself for once and it was a pleasure to share all of your children's achievements with you.  Many thanks for all of your support with reading and flashcards at home.  Please do always ask if you require any further support.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend, enjoy any bonfires and keep safe!
