Miss Mandelson and Mrs Clegg - 10 Sep 2020

Welcome Back
We cannot tell you how lovely it is to have the Tigers back together all ready for a new school year.  The KS1 children (or the 'Super Seven' as they are now known!) really have been super and have settled in to new routines really quickly.  They have been very busy helping us to prepare for the arrival of the Reception children (our 'Fantastic Five') by making welcome cards and setting up the 'home corner' and other resources for them.

Yesterday we welcomed Archie, Jessie, Emily, Lily and Alexander - our new Tigers.  Everybody came into school with big smiles on their faces, and we had a super time getting to know each other. Our new Tigers enjoyed exploring the classroom and our outdoor area, and our KS1 children were fantastic helpers, showing them things and explaining routines.  Well done everybody!

Many thanks for your patience as we have been adapting to follow all guidelines in relation to Covid 19, whilst still endeavouring to keep things as normal as possible for our children.  You will appreciate that we have had to make some changes to our practice.  We are constantly reviewing our procedures and responding to any further updates we receive.  We appreciate this can be a little confusing and we would like to clarify a few bits and bobs ready for next week.

Drop off and pick up times
You may drop your children off at any time between 8.30 and 8.45am.  Please enter the first 'outdoor area' and wait on one of the socially-distanced 'spots' until the teacher calls your child in.  If you have a child in Panther Class, he/she may proceed to the main playground area and wait on a spot. At the end of the school day, please wait in the same area.  Children will be dismissed directly to you between 3.20 and 3.30pm.  Should you require someone other than a parent to collect your child, please let us know in advance.  Children travelling on the school bus will be registered and accompanied by a member of staff in the usual way.  Please let us know if you wish your child travel home on the bus.

School bags and belongings
As you know, we need to restrict the number of items crossing between school and home.  However, we intend to continue to allocate reading books for use at home.  These will be sent home each Monday and should be returned on Thursday or Friday (if finished with) so that they can be wiped and put aside to quarantine for 72 hours.  We ask that you use the wipeable school book bag, which your child was provided with when they started school:
If your child no longer has one of these, please let us know and we shall do our best to provide one.  No other bags or rucksacks should be brought to school.  Packed lunches, if required, should be in a wipeable plastic container and water bottles should be named.  Thank you for your help with this.

Hand and respiratory hygiene
The children are required to wash their hands frequently throughout the school day.  E45 cream is available should this cause sore or dry hands.  We have been notified that hand santising gels are not permitted on school premises.  The children have been reminded about 'Catch it, bin it, kill it' procedures.  Tissues are available in the classroom and the children have been taught how to dispose of them safely.

PE kits will no longer be kept at school.  Instead we ask that your child arrive dressed in their kit on Fridays.

We very much value working in partnership with our families and are keen to keep the channels of communication open, despite the restrictions regarding face to face contact.  We shall continue to use the school website as our main method of providing information - please take time to check this weekly update, which is published each Friday.  For now, we have suspended the use of our tigers@ email account which was set up to support home-learning during 'lockdown'.  We can still be contacted by email or by telephone as per the guidance sent by Mrs Taylor.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
