Weekly News 18th October 2019

Miss Mandelson and Mrs Clegg - 17 Oct 2019

What a busy week!  The children have been enjoying our preparations for our mock wedding which will take place on Monday at St Nicholas Church at 1.15pm.  You should have received your invitation on Wednesday and further information has been sent by email.  The children have continued with their cross-curricular work, writing a super recount of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in English and comparing Christian weddings to Hindu weddings in RE.  They have thoroughly enjoyed dressing up and getting ready for a wedding in the role-play area and a special mention to Ted and Mark who worked  well together to build a very fiddly and complicated Playmobil wedding set!

A big thank you to the lovely parent who took the time to send this email:
We are really looking forward to joining you all on Monday.  My child has really enjoyed this topic and is super excited about it all!  Thank you for all the hard work you all put in to making the children’s school days so enjoyable and special!"  Your comments mean a great deal to us.  It is always wonderful and very rewarding to witness the children's enthusiasm for their learning, and even more fantastic to hear that this enthusiasm has come across at home too!

All the children have been really been impressing us with their Phonics recently, but particularly the younger children who had great fun making jelly this week to help them to recall Jj.  Once they had made it they enjoyed playing with jelly and jugs in the Messy Area!

In Maths this week, the children have continued to compare and order numbers, using the language of greater than, fewer than, most, least, etc, and have applied what they have learned to complete reasoning activities.  We have also used marshmallows and cocktail sticks to make 3D shapes....

We may have eaten a few marshmallows too!

We have also begun practising for our 'Meet the Veggies' performance for the Harvest Festival.  I am sending home a copy of our script, please could you go through this with your child at home to help increase their confidence when reading aloud?  If they can learn to say their words without looking at the sheet that would be super!
