Weekly Update - 19th March 2021

19 Mar 2021

Another great week in school. I know we said it last week but it really is great having all the children back in school.

In Maths this week we started a new unit on fractions. We started by thinking about what we already knew about fractions and what a fraction is. We then looked at the difference between unit and non-unit fractions and identified different fractions. The Year 5 and 6 children moved on to improper fractions and mixed number and some of the children had a go at simplifying fractions.

In Geography we looked at flooding. We discussed different types of flooding and any flooding we had experienced ourselves. The children then went on to write an information leaflet for someone that has moved into a flood prone area.

In RE this week the Year 5 and 6 children continued their work on What Would Jesus do. They thought about justice and fairness and looked at how Mother Teresa lived her life through these values. The Year 3 and 4 children put together all the work they have done on why people pray and designed a prayer room for a new shopping centre that could be used my Christians, Hindus, Muslims and non-religious believers. They did such a super job as you will see in the pictures below and really demonstrated a great understanding.

We have had lots of  Panthers Shining Like Stars this week. Some for the RE work above and for other work including:

excellent predictions and offering super vocabulary in Guided Reading
super explanations in Science
some brilliant reading
knowing how to say they like fish and chips in French! ( J'aime le poisson et les frites )...

and of course our brilliant School Council for organising our Comic Relief Day.

All these children have shown us they are Shining Like Stars.
