Happy Friday.

We have had another great week in school which started with a fire drill practice on Monday. The children were very sensible making their way out of school and lining up in a responsible manner. It is very important that the children know what to do in the event we ever need to evacuate for real.

In Maths this week we have been looking at a formal written method for addition. The children have MyMaths homework to reflect this. We also looked at a game called Daily 10 in our starter and used this to improve some of our mental maths skills. Click on the link if you want to have a go at some of these at home.

In RE this week the Y3/4 children have started to consider what symbols are related to the Christian festival of Christmas and what Christians celebrate at Christmas. The Year 5/6 children have been looking at the Islamic Faith and how the architecture of Mosques reflect Islamic belief.
In Computing we continued our work on Scratch and computer programming. Scratch is an online programme but has an offline editor which you can download free of charge. If you wish to do this at home follow the link here. There are also tablet apps available for a small one off download fee. It would be great to see what the children are able to do at home applying the skills we learn in school.

We hope you have a lovely weekend as we enter advent on Sunday. In school we have been focusing on our Christian Values and have looked at kindness this week thinking about the Dalai Lama's quote - 'My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.' Here is an act of kindness advent calendar - I wonder if you can complete any of these during advent. This is an older calendar so please do not follow the days/dates as given and make sure to follow current COVID guidance.

As promised last week, the children wrote some lovely adventure stories about a hunt for a mythical creature.  Click on the link below to read some extracts.
