Week commencing 16th November 2020
Mrs Hatch - 18 Nov 2020
As part of our commitment to making sure our children are physically and mentally healthy we would like to tell you about a virtual after school activity being run by the Youth Sport Trust. We would love to know if any of our children take part in this and would be glad to hear any feedback.
The Youth Sport Trust have taken the step to deliver a free virtual after school club as part of a national response to the second lockdown. The 30-minute club will take place at 5pm each weekday and be led by a different member of the YST’s athlete mentor network, starting on Thursday 12 November with world no.1 female inline skater and 10-time British Champion Jenna Downing. The After School Sport Club will then run for five weeks until December 18 and children and young people can take part live by visiting our YouTube channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/YouthSportTrust
This week we have finally come to the end of our English text which was based on the picture book 'The Whale' by Ethan and Vita Murrow. We have spent a long time discussing the story and practising sentences to tell the narrative. It is now time to put all our ideas into writing our own story. Next week everyone in class will retell the story in their own way using all the techniques we have practised. Look out for some inspired writing from the Panthers.
In science over the last couple of weeks we have been thinking about the digestive system. We had great fun last week recreating the human digestive system and this week all the children drew or painted their own human digestive system on a T.shirt. There was great excitement at home time as the children wore their ‘digestive systems’ home!
We continued improving our fitness by adding a few more stations to the circuit training we are doing in PE. The children are enjoying beating their own personal best.
In PSCHE we have been discussing ‘Relationships’ and in particular what discrimination and inclusion mean. We discussed how to recognise when behaviour and language is inclusive or discriminatory and how they make people feel. The children drew pictures and wrote sentences to explain their ideas about this difficult but important topic.
Newsflash: Photographs have been added to the article about the daily mile on the News and Events page. Take a look to see us all enjoying the fresh air and exercise.
