Week Commencing 11th May

11 May 2020

Monday

Good morning Panthers. I hope that you all a lovely weekend. How did you celebrate VE Day on Friday? We coloured some bunting for the window and some pictures and then baked some scones and biscuits before having a lovely BBQ in the sun. We would love it if you could share your stories and pictures from the day. It was another lovely day on Saturday too, we got the paddling pool out!

This week isn't quite as warm but I'm sure you'll all still be able to get out for your daily exercise. Mrs Hatch, Mrs Willan, Mrs Walker and I will be ringing around again this week to see how you are all getting on. It's just a quick phone call to catch up but we are very excited to speak to you again.

How have you been getting on with Oak Academy? Have you remembered your TT Rockstars sessions and your reading? I will put a new battle on TT Rockstars this morning and have a look on your MyMaths if you fancy something different.

I will be available on the email from 9 - 10am today if you want to ask me anything, say hello or show us the amazing work you have been doing.

Stay safe and keep in touch.
Miss Asker

TUESDAY

Good Morning Everyone.

I hope you are all well and keeping busy.  I am sure that you heard the news from Boris Johnson ( our Prime Minister) about how the government intends to allow some children to go back to school in the next few weeks.  I wonder how you are feeling about it?  Are you excited, disappointed or perhaps a little nervous?  Maybe you have a mixture of lots of emotions about it.  I certainly do.  The main thing at the moment is to carry on doing your home learning using the Oak Academy materials and we will keep you updated about what is going to happen as soon as we know.  Don't forget if you want to ask me or Miss Asker anything at all you can email us using the panthers email address or you can talk to us when we call you, which will be at some point during the week.

This week should have been SATs week for Amy, Oliver and Daisy.  Instead, they are doing their learning from home and getting lots of fresh air and exercise ( I hope!).  I am really looking forward to seeing our Y6's soon - I am sure we will have lots to tell each other.

Are you missing our J.A.M sessions?  If you click the link below, you will find a lovely 'session' that you can do at home. There is a super story on video and some great practical ideas to keep you busy.

-JAM breakfast on the beach.pdf-

Don't forget to let us know what you have been doing.  Miss Asker and I love to hear from you.

I will be available on email from 9am - 10am.

Stay safe everyone.
Mrs Hatch

Wednesday

Happy Wednesday everyone.

Did you know that on this day in 2019 American diver Victor Vecovo makes the deepest dive ever to the bottom of the Mariana trench at 10,927m (35,849ft), and finds a plastic bag. This must have been very worrying. I wonder if you could find out more about this dive or the Mariana trench and maybe design a poster to reduce, reuse and recycle. Maybe you could look into the effects of plastic in our oceans. Remember this is only optional but something to think about.

Have you had a phone call home again this week? Mrs Hatch, Mrs Willan, Mrs Walker and myself will be ringing around each week to catch up with you and see how you are doing. I will be attempting to make my phone calls over the next couple of days but you may end up hearing my little monkeys in the background!

Reverend Cleeves has recorded a great Collective Worship. There is a link below to his video, why not spend some time with your family today watching the video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxN1J4bcCk4&t=2s

I will be available between 9-10am on the Panther email address today. It would be lovely if you wanted to send an email to say hello and let me know what you have been up to.

Stay safe and speak soon.
Miss Asker

Edit - I have started a new article/tab on the homework page with some of your home learning/pictures. Have a look and see what Harrison has been getting up to. If you want your work to go on there email it to panthers@ and let us know that you're happy for it to go on the webpage.

Thursday

Good Morning Panthers

It has been lovely chatting to some of you this week and it has given me some idea about how you are coping with the home learning.  Don't forget that we are all finding this hard as none of us have ever been in this situation before, so just do the best you can.  I know that many of you are socialising with each other via the internet but it seems most of you can't wait to get back to school so that you can actually see your friends in person.  Funnily enough, not many of you mentioned that you are missing school work!!

So, if you are fed up with us teachers sending you lots of work to do, why not try this instead?  Tomorrow morning at 10am Chester Zoo are holding a virtual Endangered Species Day when you can see some of the world's most endangered animals, including: HORNED RHINOS, CHEETAHS (the world's fastest land animal), TROPICAL BIRDS, ORANGUTANS, WARTY PIGS  and much more.  You can watch all this on Youtube.  Click the link below to find out more.  I hope you enjoy it.

Friday

Apolgies this is a little late, my internet is really playing up at home this morning and keeps going on and off.

Good morning. It's Friday! I hope you are all ok and that you have had a good week so far. It is almost the weekend and now we are allowed to exercise a little bit more I wonder what your plans are for the weekend. We are going to go on a nice walk and enjoy the nature around where we live. We have discovered some gorgeous new walks that we didn't know were there and are so grateful for that. What are you grateful for?

Now we are learning from home we are all spending a lot more time on devices and computers and on the internet. Using technology can be great fun and very informative but it also has its risks and we want to make sure that you are staying safe online. We have put together an information page for staying safe which I have attached below. There are some lovely games and activities to do too.

  -STAYING SAFE ONLINE.pdf-

Don't forget that Mrs Hatch has provided us with a super link above to watch some endangered animals at Chester Zoo today. My internet is being a bit funny today but hopefully we will get logged on to watch.

Have a lovely weekend. I will be available on the email from 9-10am today. Please do get in touch and say hello. It has been lovely chatting to you this week but there are some I haven't spoken to so why not drop me a quick email to say hello.

Miss Asker.

PS. Here's a cheeky riddle - can you solve it? Email me your answer.

What has a neck but no head?
