Weekly Update - 22.11.19

Miss Asker and Mrs Hatch - 20 Nov 2019

In Maths this week we have started a new topic focusing on multiplication and division. The children thought about the language related to multiplication and then used their knowledge of known facts to multiply multiples of 10, 100 and 1000 and decimals. The Year 3 children focussed on equal groups and used the Numicon resources to help them.

In English the children continued their work on the book Hidden Figures. We learnt about Katherine Johnson and wrote informal letters giving advice to her daughters.

In Topic we started to think about space rockets. We thought about what a space rocket looks like and then discovered more about the Saturn V rocket including what happens to the different stages during its flight.

In Computing we started to think about the different types of animations that we see thinking of examples of drawn animation, model animation and 3D computer-generated animation. We looked at some software that we will be using next week to create our own animations.

In RE we thought about how objects can tell stories. We looked at images and tried to guess the person they were related to and then had fun thinking of objects that would tell a story about someone in the class. We then looked at images of Hindu gods and goddesses and started to ask questions that would help us to unpick what these told us about Hindu beliefs.
Mr Roberts came to work with us on Monday and was very impressed with the progress the children have made learning the songs and signs for the carol concert at Holy Trinity Church on Monday 2nd December. There will be a letter regarding the concert sent out next week with more details. Parents are invited to come and watch the concert which will start at 1:30pm.

Mrs Marley will be in on Monday morning covering Miss Asker as she is at a meeting.
