Another fantastic week in Panther Class which saw a visit from Power Down Pete on Wednesday. The children had great fun learning about ways to save energy and ultimately save the planet. We learnt about recycled materials used in playgrounds and devices that can be used around the house to help save energy. We then played a giant game of snakes and ladders where the children kept getting caught out opening windows when the heating was on!
The newly appointed school council then worked with Power Down Pete looking at our current eco-friendly strategies in school and have got lots of food for thought on how they can improve the school further.

In maths this week we have been ordering and comparing numbers and used our knowledge to solve problems.

In English we have been looking at creating images in poetry and the children had a go at performing part of 'The Bug Chant' by Tony Mitton. They then used the structure of the poem to write their own versions about cats and snakes. the children wrote some super poems.

In computing we have been thinking about being safe using the internet and how we can become super searchers. The Y5/6 children learnt how to tell whether a webpage is secure or not and what sort of information you should be giving out online.

In topic we have started some research on life in the Arctic and Antarctic Circles. We will be continuing this next week considering which one we would want to live in and why.

In RE we have started to think about peoples' faith and beliefs and the children considered whether 'seeing was believing' thinking about things we know are there even when we can't see them.

Congratulations to Dylan, Maisy, James and Amy who have been appointed as school councillors for our class - we know you will do a super job representing Panthers and making positive changes to our school.

Our 'Reader of the Week' this week goes to Edie. Well done for demonstrating an outstanding attitude towards reading. Remember to choose your book.

Miss Asker will not be in school Monday morning as she is on a course. Mrs Marley will be covering for her.
