Miss Mandelson and Mrs Clegg - 21 Jul 2021

Fun in the Sun!
What glorious sunshine we have had to round off the summer term!  The Tigers have certainly enjoyed making good use of the new outdoor area this week...

Nothing like getting squirted with water on a boiling hot day!  We are sure the paddling pools will be out again this weekend.

We got back on with our History work this week looking at the life and achievements of Nelson Mandela.  Our wonderful, curious Tigers were super researchers and showed a real thirst for knowledge, asking lots of very insightful questions - not just about Nelson Mandela but about other human rights activists as well!  Take a look at the wonderful shirts that the children designed, taking their inspiration from the many colourful madiba shirts in the Mandela collection.

Well done, Tigers, for achieving 100% on our special Nelson Mandela quiz!  Mrs Cornforth and I were very impressed with how much you remembered.

There were lots of finishing off jobs to do as well including editing and publishing our fruit drink recipes and stories about Handa.  We know that you are going to be bowled over by some of the super vocabulary the children have used in their own versions of Handa's Surprise and Handa's Hen.  You have all shone like stars as authors and illustrators!  Here is a sneaky preview of what will be coming home soon...

Papaya was our fruit of the week.  We all agreed that the fleshy part was quite refreshing but the seeds were rather bitter!  Many thanks to Mark who brought a large punnet of raspberries, freshly picked from his grandma's garden that morning.

I wonder which exotic fruit has been your favourite?

All that is left for us to say is thank you for all of your support this year (both during home learning and whilst school was open) and that we hope you all have a happy, restful Summer.  Today is our last day as Tiger Class and we look forward to seeing all the children back in September as Rockets and Comets!  Stay well everyone!
