Tigerbots and Rockstars!
Weren't we blessed with some wonderful weather during the half-term break?  It was lovely to hear the children's news on their return.  They have all settled back quickly and we have had a great week.  At last it truly feels like we are in the summer term!

On Tuesday there was roughly a 50:50 split with half of Tigers becoming robots for the day and the rest transforming into cool rock stars for the launch of Numbots and the relaunch of TT Rockstars for the older children.  We wonder if you can work out who's who?

It was a fantastic day which incorporated lots of marvellous maths.  We were a sight to behold as we ventured out into the village to carry out our long awaited traffic survey to complete our work on data-handling.  Whilst the older children recorded the number of cars, vans, lorries, buses, motorbikes, bicycles and tractors coming through the village, the younger children set about hunting for numbers in the playground.  Not only did they find them all but they managed to sequence them correctly so that we could read the secret message on the back:

In the afternoon, the children became familiar with Numbots, our new maths platform for boosting early counting, addition and subtraction skills.  They learned to log in by themselves and had great fun practising their recall of number facts in order to earn coins to spend in the 'custom shack' and build their own robot.

Please do take the time to have a look at the information sent home on Tuesday and help your child to login at home.  Login details can be found on the inside cover of your child's reading diary.  Click on the image below to go directly to the website:

Many thanks to Miss Asker for organising some wonderful whole-school outdoor maths activities to end our day.  It was great to see some super team work as the older children supported their younger peers.  You all shone like stars in the sky.  Do take a look at the School News and Events page to see more photos.

We had more excitment on Friday when Mrs Cornforth brought in a special parcel....there was a small box...then a small tub...and inside the tub there were 5 caterpillars!  The children were amazed!  We are going to watch closely to see what happens to our caterpillars...

We have had a really busy but lovely week in Tigers this week.  The children have returned from their half-term break really refreshed and grown up.  They have tackled all of their learning with great enthusiasm and have shown perseverance and resilience when facing new challenges. We are looking forward to the rest of our half term together and can't wait to see the children building on their progress and achievements.  You are all stars Tiger Class!
