Week Commencing 27th April 2020

Miss Mandelson and Mrs Clegg - 26 Apr 2020

Monday
Welcome back to a new week of home learning together, Tigers!  It has been lovely to hear from so many of you about what you got up to last week.  We know that many of you have been getting used to some new teachers with the Oak Academy online lessons.  Daisy has sent us some super writing about how to make a fruit salad after learning about how to write a set of instructions with Miss Emms.  Your fruit salad looks delicious, Daisy!
And well done to Mark for having a go at the St George's Day Maths problem.  We wonder if anyone else had a go?  Did you get the same answer as Mark? Take another look at the St George's Day page to find out what else your friends have been doing! If you have been wondering about how Leroy and Dylan's wheat crop investigation is going, you can check out the Science page for an update.  Can you work out how many centimetres the wheat grew each week?

Mrs Clegg and I have been working very hard to put together some phonics lessons for you.  If you click on the 'Homework' tab above, you will find a new 'Daily Phonics' page.  Scroll down to the bottom for some ideas from us - they will change every day, just like our lessons at school.  If you are enjoying meeting new teachers through online lessons, there is also some information about some new online phonics lessons, as well as some helpful tips for grown-ups.  (You might have to help your parents with phonics - many mums and dads will have learned a different way when they were at school!)

Tuesday
Good morning, Tigers!  I am at Kirkby Malzeard School today looking after the children who need to be in school, so I might be a bit slower at replying to your emails!  Please do keep sending through your messages and photos though as it really brightens our day.  It was lovely to find a beautiful postcard with a lovely message lying on the school mat when I popped in yesterday.  Thank you, Poppy - it really made me smile.  Look out for a reply coming through your door soon!

We wonder how you got on with your new phonics...and which lesson you chose to do.  Did anyone try the new online phonics lesson or did you try the Tiger Class lesson on the Daily Phonics page?  Maybe you decided to stick with the phonics and spelling work in the Oak Academy lessons.  Whichever you choose is fine but only do one!  Let us know which you prefer.

Well done to Maisie who has been working really hard on her phonics:
Look at this sentence that Maisie has written.  It has a digraph, a trigraph and even a split digraph!  Can you spot them?

Wednesday
Hello Tigers and welcome to another wonderful Wednesday!  You have been working so hard this week and we are extremely proud of the way you have tried out all the new phonics.  It is lovely for us to see photos of you using the resources we have got ready for you.  Bibi and Kitty have chosen to use the Tiger Class resources on the Daily Phonics page.  Look at the great work they have been doing:
We can see that Ted has chosen this way of working too and has been working hard on his silent letters for his spellings this week whilst Hermione has enjoyed learning the spellings from the Oak Academy lessons:
