Miss Mandelson and Mrs Clegg - 27 Nov 2019

Great Excitement!

The children had been eagerly awaiting the introduction of this year's Nativity so were thrilled to get their parts and begin to familiarise themselves with the script on Wednesday.  We shall begin rehearsals in earnest next week so any time you can give to helping your child become familiar with their lines will be greatly appreciated.  Look out for a letter regarding costumes coming soon.

The new layout of the learning space has been a big hit with the children and they have settled well into their revamped environment.  Many thanks for all the positive comments we have received.

In English with Miss Mandelson, the children have enjoyed writing their own stories based on Once There Were Giants and the older children have used their editing skills to revise and improve their work.  In English with Mrs Clegg, the children have continued learning about writing sets of instructions.  Ted remembered that each instruction needs to start with an imperative verb- good boy!

We have continued exploring addition and subtraction this week revisiting all pairs of numbers which have a total of ten, then using this knowledge to derive further number facts. The children have been really good at spotting number patterns along the way.

In our History work, we have enjoyed making personal timelines showing significant events in our lives.  Miss Mandelson's timeline was very long!

Our Art/DT work continued from last week and we managed to complete our moving pictures using sliders and springs.  The children were thrilled with their completed pictures- they are so creative!  They will certainly brighten up the extension!

It was lovely to have the opportunity to meet with parents this week to discuss the children's progress and celebrate their achievements.  We hope you found the consultation meetings useful and informative.  We also look forward to seeing you at the Christmas Fayre tomorrow!
